Caterpillar flower pot

By Vicki Little April 20, 2011

My kids are still little, so I look for crafts that are simple yet have things that they can participate in doing. So this little craft is PERFECT for us. And it makes a great Easter gift! And an added little perk is that my children love to watch their craft grow.

MATERIALS:

  • Any small flower pot. The one I used is simply $1 at Michael's and gives the kids something to color to decorate the pot. But you can get as creative as you want, paint, stickers, whatever!
  • Two small green pom poms and one medium or large green pom pom
  • Two googly eyes
  • Glue
  • One pipe cleaner
  • Potting soil
  • Any flowers that are good for containers

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Decorate the pot
  2. Glue the two googly eyes on the large pom pom
  3. Fold the pipe cleaner in half and then twist the two tops to make antenna's.
  4. Glue the folded part of the pipe cleaner on the other side of the large pom pom (opposite the googly eyes)
  5. Glue a small pom on large one. (on the side of the antenna).
  6. Glue the other small pom onto the first small pom.
  7. Glue the caterpillar on the edge of the pot
  8. Fill the pot with the soil and follow instructions on the seed pack....you probably won't need the whole pack.
