Welcome to Aurora Macaroni Kid!
Happy September!! I love September. It is the nice "in-between". The cooler temperatures allow for more outside activities, and it is still light later into the evening. The slightly changing leaves make for beautiful settings. The new school year brings excitement and also brings new family routines and goals. With my son back at school, we have been solidified our home routine. The daily chore charts are set, awards put in place, night time routines have been perfected and we have established a new morning routine. I did have some ...
GIVEAWAY! CSN stores $25 Gift card!
We all know that children change lives. Not a secret. But there are some little things that I never thought about. Like how my once-beautiful dishes that we received as a wedding gift would soon become chipped, mismatched, broken and quickly diminishing. It is time to get some new dishes, and I have my eye on about ten Corelle ones from CSN. I think I am leaning towards this one, though.
Aren't those pretty? Yeah, I can only imagine what my kids can do to them simply by looking ...
R Baby Walk and Family Festival
It's unimaginable for most. It's devastating and heartbreaking to those who experience it. But the truth of the matter is that 30,000 infants in this country die before their first birthdays. The causes vary but some of those tragedies can and should be prevented. Out of such a terrible loss, the loss of a baby born healthy, emerged one local mom on a mission to make improvements to infant health care.
Corinne McMurray is that mom, and along with her husband, they have started the first state ...

LOL IDK CYL8R PIR POS PAW NMU
Do you know what these mean? Innocent enough, they are "slang" words kids are using when texting or chatting online with one another. Laugh Out Loud, I Don't Know, See You Later, Parent Over Shoulder, Parents are Watching and Not Much, You?.
How about these?
IWS NIFOC TDTM P911 ABE A-BOOT
These aren't quite so innocent. These have to deal with drugs or "sexting". To find out exact meanings, go to www.noslang.com, but please note that many of these ...

Kids Eat Frugally, or FREE!
In an effort to keep this newsletter from being EXTREMELY lengthy, and to help you decide where to find places to eat by telling you where kids eat free (or at least cheap), I have decided to put this in a weekly article rather than separate events. Peacock Hand Print Craft and Fun Facts
As I venture down the road of homeschool preschool with Allie, I've discovered that many day to day activities can be learning opportunities. Wednesday morning we watched as the birds pecked at the
bread we sprinkled on the back patio for them. Among the normal group of birds we spotted an interesting looking bird with a tail that stood straight up. I quickly reached for the bird identification book. This sent Allie searching for her own science reader book about birds and so we sat down and began our ...
