This past week has been one of those that is filled with irony. I have been teaching my kids to ride their bikes since they have finally shown an interest in it, and my own life has been filled with falling off my proverbial bike. While I have always felt that sometimes I am too unforgiving, my husband disagrees. He feels that I forgive too much and that is why I ultimately get so burned that it becomes an all or none for me. And unfortunately my tolerance for engaging in small talk after I have seen someone's true personality is very low.

Being a parent almost makes forgiveness both harder AND easier. I want to forgive to show my children this is what the right thing to do is. But I also want to teach them not to let others use them and walk all over them and treat them badly. And I have to teach them how to deal with people that are hurtful on a daily basis. So I have had to find my mixture between forgiveness and standing up for yourself.  But finding that was seriously like learning to ride a bike. Just as frustrating, just as painful, and just as much of a lesson. Luckily I have some great friends along for the ride!

Have a wonderful and HAPPY week!
