Not that long ago, a sweet little girl I know turned the big old age of 1. This little girly is spunky and sweet and so stinking cute, and I have loved watching her learn new things (Happy Birthday, little Zoe!!). When I saw her on her big day, all proudly snuggled up against her mom I remembered how exciting those first few birthdays were. A bit sad because the smaller the kids are the more they seem to change from year to year, but happy, too.
To me, birthdays aren't just for the kids. That year was hard work for everyone! The happy and sappy memories, the times of fights and growing pains, the tears and the cheers. Families grow TOGETHER. They celebrate together, they live together, they love together and they weep together. As a mom I feel quite a bit of accomplishment at each birthday milestone as well. My babies aren't the only ones that are a year older and wiser-I am, too.
So celebrate that milestone of yours as well. I just gave you another great reason to eat birthday cake-what isn't to love about that?
Now to work on that husband of mine....
