Magical is the feeling you get when you arrive at the Gaylord Rockies from the lights to the ambiance when you enter the hotel, it’s truly a feeling of joy and happiness.  Getting away whether it is local or far away, simply stepping away from everyday life is needed.  The Gaylord of the Rockies is a hop, skip and jump away to enjoy time away as a family or simply a couple.

We got away with the kiddos to jump-start our winter break. The oohs and ahh’s from the moment we turned the corner and could see all the magical lights from afar.  Our kiddos enjoy staying in hotels, so the excitement from them that they were getting to spend a couple of days was out of this world.  I will say it was going to be nice to get away for a couple of days as this year has been a little challenging and a break was needed.  Walking into the Gaylord Rockies with my family, put me right into the Christmas spirit.

When you head to the Gaylord Rockies, there are so many things that you can do to keep the kids entertained.  Our personal favorite is going to the pool, which we feel is a must-do whenever going to a hotel.  Whether you stay indoors and swim or you enjoy the outdoor heated pool, let’s not forget the indoor/outdoor hot tubs for us adults.

During this time of year, they have a Christmas Village that can be explored, with many different photo ops, our girls enjoyed walking around taking in all the Christmas Spirit.  Then they have all the outdoor activities; Sledding, Ice Skating, S’mores, Miniature Golf (*new), Ice bumper cars, and Path of Lights.  These outdoor activities were fun because we haven’t gotten any real snow here in Colorado and you could enjoy these activities regardless of whether we had snow or not.

The kids loved the new addition of the Miniature Golf, the weather was just right to play a few rounds.

Let’s not forget the Mission: Save Christmas featuring the Elf, this is a great interactive activity to do with the whole family.  Enjoy 20% off using code: MACKID at checkout.  This activity is great for all ages. Mission: Save Christmas featuring Elf, was an enjoyed evening activity with the kids.  The girls are a BIG fan of the elf and looking for him throughout the activity made it just a little more fun.

They also have the Cirque Dreams Holidaze show, unfortunately, we were not able to attend with all the other activities we participated in. Although speaking to another family at the pool it was a must-see, so we may have to go back before it leaves for the season.

One of the things that I found out is that you can rent bikes to ride along the paths around the resort.  You can check them out by the pool and there are paths all around the resort.  Definitely did not see this till the end of our stay, however definitely on the list of things to do the next time we go and stay.

Our family always worries about food gotta make sure we are covered.  The resort has plenty of options to choose from, whether it’s a quick bite at the cantina or one of the many options of sit-down options.  Also, they have a small shop with snacks and of course Starbucks coffee. There is definitely a little something for everyone to choose from.  We loved the Mountain Pass Sports Bar for breakfast, this is a new option that we were surprised to find out about, they offer Breakfast Burritos, Bowls, and Tacos.  Definitely a good portion to get you started for the day, to be energized for all the activities.

Gaylord Rockies hosted us for the evening, all the opinions in the article were our own.
