The Ins and Outs!

By Kristin Kindred June 30, 2017

Thomas the Train has been around forever and it is one of kid’s favorite shows and getting to spend the day with him how can it get much better than that. Often times when going to an event we do not know what to expect or time we should show up to ensure that we have plenty of time to see all the neat stuff. This was our first time going to a Day Out with Thomas the Train and we definitely learned a lot to make it a lasting visit that is enjoyable for all.

Day Out with Thomas has been created to have an enjoyable day learning about trains and exploring all there is to do at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden. At this event you will park at one of their two event parking lots whether you are coming in from Golden or Arvada, you will see signs for parking and then will take a shuttle to the Museum. If you have been to the Museum before there is additional stuff to do when Thomas comes to town. We arrived at the parking lot at 1:45 p.m. and got to the Museum a little after 2 p.m., our train time was 4:45 p.m. This was the right amount of time to check everything out and have a little ice cream before we got on the train.

When you get your tickets make sure to get the little scavenger hunt form for each of the kids this ensures that you get to see all the extras that the event offers as well as collecting stamps, because in the end you get a surprise gift for a completed form. There is all the trains from the Museum to climb in and check out as well as the model train areas and the indoor museum of the history of trains. As for all the extras that Thomas the Train event offers, music tent with music from Thomas the Train, temporary tattoos, coloring area with Thomas the Train shows on, Sir TopHam meet and greet, yard games in the picnic area and of course picture with Thomas the Train.

You can truly make a day of this event with the family and pack a picnic lunch or have lunch from one of the food trucks that they have on site. There is a beautiful picnic area that is covered as well as a beautiful grassy area under trees to enjoy the cool breeze and a little down time. This event makes for a truly enjoyable family day with Thomas the Train!
