Growing up in Colorado going to the drive-in on the weekend was something that occurred often in the summer months. The Denver Mart Drive-In is a modern day theatre in an Urban setting, right in the heart of the Metro Area.
We took the kids opening weekend to see Pirates of the Caribbean II and Beauty and the Beast. The Mart Drive-In is located off 58th and Washington, behind the Denver Merchandise Mart. They have enclosed part of the parking lot and set-up a big screen to enjoy the latest movies.
We got there early to make sure we got the perfect spot! They have an area set-up with speakers and lawn chairs that you can sit and enjoy the movie from in case you want to be outside during the show, too! Plus a large open area to run and play ball in before the show. Truly a family experience that everyone will enjoy. While we were waiting for the movie to start the boys played catch with the football and us girls just chilled and took in the view. When it was time to start, we decided to camp out in the back of our car, so when the movie starts you just tune in to the channel on the radio and listen to it through the car speakers.
We were sure to visit the Mart Café before the show started. There was a lot to choose from like burgers, popcorn, ice cream and much more. Get there a little early to go inside the plaza building for dinner, drinks and entertainment prior to the main features.
The movie started right at dusk and the kids all got snuggled inside and us parents set-up lawn chairs in front of the kids, it was a perfect evening for family fun.
The picture on the screen was amazing and the movie went off without a hitch. After the first movie there was an intermission, to take a bathroom break or get more snacks. The second feature soon followed and while the kids dozed off my husband and I discussed our next time we'll come, but for a date night, this time.
