Shopping for the perfect car seat is often times one of the hardest things to do --- besides giving birth to the baby! When you are out shopping for a car seat, you are most likely looking into cost, safety, comfortability for the baby, length of time you can use it and whether it comes with a stroller. With most car seats, you have to compromise one of these features, because they often times do not have all them. However, I think they have finally created a car seat that meets all these requirements! I got the Chicco Fit2 Infant/Toddler car seat when my little one was 5 months old. After having 2 other kiddos in car seats, this is hands down one of the best car seats that I have used!
Like the old saying goes, never judge a book by it's cover...and the same goes for a car seat. When I was given the opportunity to try out the car seat I was a little skeptical. The price tag of the car seat is approximately $279.00, which for a frugal mom means a little extra budgeting. It came in a big box and was not part of a stroller set. However, with an open mind I gave this car seat a chance and am super grateful I did.

Once we got it out of the box, we installed it into our Honda Pilot...it was one of the easiest car seats to install and had a side level based on whether you were using it for an infant or toddler to get it installed correctly. The first day our little Madie used it she was not quite sure --- it has inserts that allow the baby to fit more snuggly into the seat and this is something that Madie was not used too. This is something that I did not realize was as important as it was until I saw how secure she was in the seat! It also has easy to use safety straps to get the little one in nice and secure. It may be a bit heavier than other car seats that we have used, however not enough to keep us from using it.
We have been using it for a little over two weeks and are loving it! One of the biggest features that we love about this car seat is when Madie falls asleep in the car she can sleep with her head upright and not kinked over...and this is kind of big deal to keep her comfortable! The base allows for easy click in, in the car (and the base is about the size of most bases because we are still able to fit a booster seat on each side). The other great feature of this car seat is that it is designed to move from baby to toddler years (up to 24 months or 35 pounds). The base easily adjusts for this extended use of the seat. There is also the option to buy the stroller frame to just click in the car seat and go. Another great add on feature!
We would definitely recommend this car seat and feel that it is worth the $279.00 to know that your child is safe and comfortable, as well as having the option to use it into their toddler years. Madie does not want to go back to her older car seat either! She just loves the way she can sleep in the Chicco Fit2 so comfortably.
