Make Your Own Patriotic Ice Pops!

Red, white and blue never tasted so good

By Christel M. Hoydic June 26, 2014
Homemade Patriotic Ice Pops are a fun and easy way to celebrate the summer holidays with your kids. And they are not only fun to make, they are also fun to eat!

These red, white and blue treats only take three ingredients: cranberry juice, lemonade, and a blue sports drink like Gatorade.

You'll also need paper cups and wooden sticks. The small dixie cups are the perfect size for these pops.

Start with the cranberry juice and fill each cup one-third full. Place in the freezer for about one hour.

Remove from the freezer and put the wooden sticks in place. Then fill another third of the cup with lemonade.

Refreeze for another hour and then fill the rest of the cup with the blue Gatorade. Return the cups to the freezer one last time, until they are completely frozen.

Once frozen, the paper cups will easily peel away from your ice pops and they are ready to enjoy!

Refreshing, cool, and sweet, these Patriotic Ice Pops are sure to be a hit at your summer celebrations … or any day!

We finally got to summer, I was so excited. That first Sunday night, I cuddled under the covers, content in my knowledge that I didn't have anywhere to be until noon when my son had camp. But on Monday morning, promptly at 6:30, my kids decided to wake up and play and be loud and needy and you know...kid-like. I have to fight to get them to wake up usually. So I got up and started cleaning, and in the process I missed two phone calls. One of those calls was asking where my son was. Oops! He was in MORNING camp, not afternoon! I ended up spending my first week of summer waking up ridiculously early to drive my son to camp! I will definitely be planning better next year.

I hope that your summer is in full-swing and filled with fun in the sun! Stay safe!

Have a wonderful and event-filled week!
