A Note From Your Publisher

By Vicki Little, Macaroni Kid Aurora Publisher November 27, 2014
I wish, just once, that I could say that the current holiday didn't fly upon me while I blinked my eyes. But here we are yet again, Thanksgiving is upon us. I always love seeing what my kids have to say at school about the holidays we share and what they are thankful for. My daughter said she is looking forward to eating sweet potatoes. The more I thought of it the more I realized this is the ONE time of the year that she eats them, because my mom makes wonderful ones with brown sugar on top. She is also looking forward to the Macy's parade according to the turkey craft she brought home. My son is thankful for health and life. And he isn't really looking forward to eating anything which isn't a surprise because he doesn't ever look forward to eating anything.

With all that has happened in the news in the past week, it is easy to feel bitterness and anger in your heart. It is easy to overlook all that you have to say thanks for, it is easy to look for the hurt in the world. But if you take a second to look around, you will see that there are small acts of kindness happening all around you. There are people with hearts so large that they spend their days looking for ways to help others. There are whispers of goodness in the world that are easily silenced by the shouts of the not-so-good. Focus on those whispers and turn them into shouts. There is so much to be thankful for.

Make some wonderful memories this week...
