City of Aurora's Savvy Solar Workshop

By City of Aurora Press Release January 26, 2011
Learn about solar energy for homes and businesses at one of the city of Aurora’s five Savvy Solar Consumer Workshops offered in 2011. All workshops are free and open to the public.

The Savvy Solar Consumer Workshops will provide an overview of different types of solar power, explain how to work with solar contractors, and talk about the various financial incentives available through the city of Aurora, Xcel Energy and the federal government. Discover the details of system sizing, installation and net-metering. Interact with an easy online calculator to determine your solar capability. All questions are welcome.

Gather your past 12 months of energy bills and bring them to the workshop. Experts will be available to discuss a solar installation with you that meets your needs.

All workshops will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The schedule is as follows:

  • Feb. 23, Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway
  • April 21, Tallyn’s Reach Library, 23911 E. Arapahoe Road

The city of Aurora is rebating solar permit fees for those properties that first receive a blower door energy audit from Xcel Energy. The cost of the energy audit will also be rebated. The city also offers a rebate for the installation of a solar water heating system.

The incentives are funded with energy stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. For more information, visit www.auroragov.org/rebates.
