A Note From Your Publisher

July 16, 2014
For some reason I have been bitten by the cleaning bug this week. Not just regular cleaning, but cleaning out the drawers in the bathroom and kitchen etc. Maybe it is because everyone is at home and it is feeling a little cramped and cleaning makes me feel better. Who knows. But the kids have been great and they keep asking to help. Reminding myself that they will not be so eager to help clean the dishes in the future, I have taken them up on their offers and let them help do the dishes and vacuum as well as windex tables and other little chores. I am slowly learning which of these chores they are great at and which ones I end up sneaking behind them to re-do (mainly so we don't end up eating off of dirty plates!).

As they are getting older I am finding that their small bits of help, whether it be picking up their own toys, throwing away trash, or gathering dirty dishes or clothes saves me a lot of time. At first it was easier to just do it myself than hear them grumble if they didn't want to do it RIGHT THEN, or only did it halfway. But once they realized I wasn't going to do it for them, and after the first fifty times they had to finish what they started because they didn't do it enough the first time, they started just doing what I asked. And I end up with a little extra time to do other things.

Have a wonderful and event-filled week! Enjoy every moment of the last few weeks of summer!
