A Note from the Publisher
By: Vicki Little
My heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of Jessica Ridgeway, and to all of the families and friends of children who have been taken from them. Rest in Peace, Jessica.
Why is it that the big events seem to also be weather note-worthy? It always seems that KidSpree is held on the HOTTEST day of the summer. And while this was definitely not the worst weather I have seen at a Punkin' Chunkin', it definitely wasn't pretty! But, it is an annual tradition so my children and I bundled ourselves up, put on our snow boots (Hey, I am smart, our feet are always the coldest parts of us), and headed out. It was cold and wet but fun as always. I was a little disappointed that it didn't seem to be as big this year. The efforts were great, but there was really only one or two that sent the pumpkins shooting too far for us to see. As my son says "our favorite is the one that looks like a cannon on a pirate ship and shoots the pumpkin so high it hit the clouds!!!". Yes, son, that was definitely my favorite!
And Congratulations to our winner of $50 to Shutterfly Allie K!
Taking a minute as a mom, I will admit that while we were out I was definitely more aware. I know we are all a bit more nervous, very saddened, and trying to deal with different feelings. I have found that the best way to ease my fears is definitely educating and preparing myself, so I have included an article on some of the information that I have received. As with so very many, I also want Justice for Jessica.
