Welcome to Aurora Macaroni Kid!
By: Vicki Little
Well, it has happened. My sweet little man is starting Kindergarten tomorrow. For five days a week he will be growing and experiencing a whole life of his own outside of my warm circle that I have put around him. Part of me is so excited for him, so very very proud of him. And the other part of me is so emotional that this is all happening so quickly. I can't believe he has already grown from that tiny newborn that used to fall asleep in the palm of my hand while I burped him.
My family has really been enjoying watching the Olympics together. It is great to see my son's eyes grow wide as he declares he wants to be an Olympian when he grows up. I am so used to hearing that he wants to be Superman that I love knowing his mind is expanding and growing and he is realizing that his dreams are endless. He sees people doing the things he loves to do on television, he sees people cheering for them, and with a little bit of encouragement from us, he is starting to realize that hard work goes a long way!
The United States has a lot to be proud of in this year's Olympics, and Colorado definitely has the right to hold our heads up high and be proud. We have overcome SO much in this past summer, and now we have a shining star that is dedicating her win to the victims of the shooting. I am proud to be raising my children in such a strong state.
I hope you have a fantastic week, and for those families headed back to school...have a fantastic beginning to your new school year!
