Welcome to Aurora Macaroni Kid!

By Vicki Little July 4, 2012
It has been quite the weekend! My family decided that this was the perfect weekend to finally adopt the dog we have been talking about so we could help at least a little bit with all of the issues that the Colorado Fires brought. So, after many disappointments, just when I thought it wasn't meant to be, and literally at the final hour (the shelter was already closed when I was told the last dog we wanted to meet had just gotten adopted) we were shown the sweetest little baby that had been rescued from the Springs. Only 8 months old, the little chihuahua/min-pin mix came through the doors, sniffed around a bit, and then snuggled herself into my lap with her head in the crook of my arm. She was fresh from surgery, hadn't even been listed yet, and she became ours with a quick lick on the cheek and wag of her tail. She is so sweet and loveable and has definitely added some energy and excitement to our family!

Remember that even though a lot of the hype of the fires has calmed down, they are not completely out, and even the sections that are still have a long way to go in recovery! There are still a lot of ways you can help! If you would like to help, check out http://helpcoloradonow.org/

Aurora Macaroni Kid wants to thank ALL of those that have helped with the fires (with a special thank you to my cousin, Scott!). You are true heroes! And, especially this week, thanks to all of those that have fought for and supported our freedom. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed! And finally, our thoughts and prayers go out to those that have been affected by the fires.

While there are many cancelled fireworks shows and many bans, there are still a lot of ways to enjoy this holiday, and I hope that you all have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!
