Kids Eat Free!

Last Minute Money Saving Family Travel Tips

By MK July 13, 2011

The economy will turn around one day, but while it slogs along, many of us still hope to get out and travel with our families this summer.  A great way to save some dough is to stay where the kids eat free.  Here are some suggestions from Macaroni Kid.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts (a fab MacKid Sponsor) has a great "Love Your Family" program at more than two dozen of their best properties, including some Sheraton, Westin and St. Regis resorts in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Canada, and the Caribbean and even Bora Bora!  Kids eat for a flat fee with the SPG pass, or you can use a daily resort credit (up to $100) to feed them for free!  Plus they offer  adjoining rooms and more for kids and families convenience.

The Holiday Inn discount chain was among the early adopters on the "Kids Eat Free" promo bandwagon. Kids 12 and under still eat free at nearly 900 Holiday Inn properties throughout North America.

Various Hilton Hotels also have kids eat free programs including resorts in Orlando, Anaheim and Los Cabos.  At the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, kids eat free at breakfast and dinner with an adult entree purchase.

And for the rest of July, Loews Hotels celebrates National Ice Cream Month with complimentary frozen treats for guests every afternoon all summer long.  Available from 4 pm to 5pm daily, roving carts filled with ice cream pops, ranging from bomb pops and ice cream sandwiches to classics such as fudgesicles and creamsicles will be stationed in the lobbies of all 18 Loews Hotel properties across North America for guests to enjoy - free.
