This past weekend was my daughter's very first gymnastics meet. I am pretty sure that as nervous as she was, I was about ten times that bad. And that was a problem. A big one since I am a nervous eater. I went through my licorice in no time flat. And then through some Laffy Taffy's. And then a granola bar. And then finally the meet started. Oops.

Luckily we had more food out in a cooler in the car or there wouldn't have been anything for my daughter to eat on the way home. I don't necessarily care what scores she gets. What I care about is her confidence in herself. In her happiness. And knowing that she had fun and felt wonderful when we left.

Luckily she did pretty good for her first meet....she even earned herself a 4th place ribbon for her floor routine. When she came running up to me afterwards she told me that she wasn't too scared she wouldn't get a ribbon because she landed a certain skill and she knew I was proud of her. And I earned a pound or two, along with the lesson that while she may get upset if she doesn't win and if she doesn't do her best- she does know that I am always her biggest supporter. She does know that I am proud of her no matter what she does. Even if she doesn't do gymnastics at all.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Vicki
